3 Ways to Bust Out of the ‘No Time’ Trap
Posted by: | CommentsDo you remember those long lazy days in the school summer holidays?
Get up when you fancy.
Watch endless hours of cartoons.
Build an action man camp or two.
Head round to your friends house and dig through their toys.
Not a care in the world.
And more spare time than we could throw a stick at.
But not now!
Nowadays it seems like every day has been chopped in three and cut down to just 8 hours to eat, sleep, work and play.
There just never seems to be enough time to get everything done.
Here’s a sobering thought…
A 35 year old has approximately 40 years left to achieve what they want to achieve.
Approximately 480 months.
That’s only about 14,400 days.
And only about 230,000 waking hours.
By the time you take out holidays, weekends, time for eating and all the other stuff we have to do you’d be left with something like 50,00o hours.
ONLY 50,000 hours.
That really doesn’t seem like a lot.
If you want to earn just £10 million in those years then every single hour needs to equate to around £200!
But here’s my point.
We don’t have that much time - and any one of us could have a LOT less than we hope.
So - we need to make every single second count.
And not just for business but for all the other things in life.
I’m not a believer in money for the sake of money.
But, I am a beliver in money for the sake of freedom.
Money gives us the opportunity to stop worrying, stop working (if we so wish) and get out into the big wide world and enjoy it.
SO…
We need to make the absolute best use of every single second…
Every single minute has to count.
Here are three ESSENTIAL things to do to make best use of your time.
1. LIMIT access to you. Check email ONCE a day. Do NOT take phone calls unless pre-booked. Do not have meetings unless they cannot be avoided. Do NOT run an open door policy (there’s nothing worse).
2. Choose the BIGGEST rocks. Always be working on the MOST important tasks at hand. The ones which will bring the BIGGEST results. Most stuff you do DOES NOT need to be done. You haven’t got time to do it all.
3. Write down exactly what you’ll be doing tomorrow TONIGHT and then do it tomorrow. ALL OF IT.
Do those three things and you’ll get more done in a day than most get doen in a month.
There are endless more ways to whizz up more time - but commit to these three first.
