Welcome to "The Place" for entrepreneurs, business owners, consultants and authors seeking fast and dramatic growth and greater control, independence and security... In the REAL World!

Would you like to get inside the head of your staff and KNOW what they’re thinking?

Imagine being able to know exactly what their mind is focused on at any one time AND CHANGE IT!

That’d be real cool eh!

You’d be able to like Jedi mind trick and out trick them all day.

If you caught them thinking about a chicken Caesar wrap then you could wave your hand in front of their face and say:

“You do not want a wrap - you want to get on the phone and call your inactive clients”.

Just imagine that.

Geez - business would be simple.

I mean, I do have a few Jedi powers (and I’ll teach you some some time - they’re DANGEROUS in the wrong hands though and I don’t know if I can trust you yet) and can use them to change what people think and get them to do stuff.

But I’m Afraid We Live on Planet Earth, not the Death Star

And it’s time for a BIG Dose of reality.

In fact facing REALITY and accepting REALITY is a FUNDAMENTAL to you achieving what you want.

Most business owners are completely deluded.

They honestly believe that their employees have YOUR and YOUR business best interest at heart.

They truly believe that they want to come to work and they want to serve your clients.

Well I’ve got news for you BUDDY!

Codswallop…

In REALITY your business, your profits are way, way down the list of what they’re thinking about.

Here’s a rough guide to what they’re really thinking about:

  1. Will Brad call me tonight.
  2. Has Jenny posted her holiday pics on Facebook.
  3. Did Jimmy junior win his sports day.
  4. How on earth will we pay for our holiday.
  5. Did Janine really kill Goliath on Eastenders (sorry, don’t watch it so made up the names).
  6. I wonder if I can get home early today.
  7. What can I sell on eBay tonight.
  8. What shall I wear out on Saturday.
  9. Did he really do that with her?
  10. Why won’t my Dad accept my boyfriend.
  11. Shall we have chicken or pizza for dinner.
  12. How fast can I get this set of nails done without being told off.

And then somewhere down at about number 17 - YOUR PROFITS…

Now there’s a big problem here.

And here’s what it is.

Where are your profits on YOUR list?

NUMBER 1!!

Ah!

Problem!

Your profits are not that important to your staff.

And even worse in 99% of cases you will not be prepared to accept it.

“My staff are different.”

“My staff are really focused.”

“My staff are really well trained.”

“My staff have incentives to do well.”

Sorry…

It’s because of this inability to accept you are not that important to your staff that so many employee troubles happen…

The moment you ACCEPT that your profits are not top of the priority list (in fact they’re) way down the list then you can embrace it and make plans to DEAL WITH IT.

Hope I haven’t scared you…

Doesn’t mean your employees are really good, nice and the best around. THAT has NOTHING to do with it…

Best,

Henry.

Could Usain Bolt Hold the Key to Business Success???

Could Usain Bolt Hold the Key to Business Success???

Would you like to know the things that separates people like Usain Bolt from the average?

I mean, this chap is unbelievable.

Sure, he has a physical advantage nobody can touch right now.

But he’s not the only athlete performing at an unbelievable level.

Yet some athletes seem to fall at the ‘final hurdle’.

They storm the heats, semis and then crumble in the final.

There are all sorts of reasons why that happens.

BUT, Michael Johnson’s commentary on BBC2 revealed something which I’ve known and used for years.

Something which true superstars like him and Usain use to ensure they perform at their peak!

And it’s all about preparation (as if you didn’t know that).

Here’s what Michael Johnson said (not his exact words but you’ll get the gist) about what the difference in preparation between those who run perform their best in the finals and those who don’t…

“Before the race some athletes will think about the ‘GLORY’ of winning. The sponsorship they’ll get, the press coverage, the MONEY. Some will ‘WORRY’ about tripping, false starting, being beaten…

BUT, USAIN BOLT, the best athletes will do neither of those.

Usain will be RUNNING THE PERFECT RACE IN HIS MIND. Over and over again. He’ll replay the perfect start, the perfect drive, the perfect finish. And he’ll picture it in perfect detail. He’ll KNOW his every move, his every step, exactly what he’ll do in the race.”

And guess what happens in the race?

He runs it pretty much exactly as he visualises it.

Pretty weird huh??

Well… Whether you think it’s weird or not - it IS proven to work. Time and time again.

And YOU can use EXACTLY the same technique to achieve whatever YOU want for your business and your life.

You see, our world has a strange habit of reflecting our thoughts.

Think good things, good things tend to happen.

Think bad things, bad things tend to happen.

Create your perfect future in your mind in perfect detail and replay it to yourself A LOT and and that perfect future will have more than a little chance of coming true…

Give it a try…

Let me know how you get on…

After all… If it’s good enough for the fastest man the world has EVER seen - surely it’s good enough for me and you…

Best,

Henry.

Hey!

The results are in.

From a recent survey I ran as to what your biggest challenges are right now.

  • The economy.
  • Lack of clients.
  • Cash Flow.
  • Competition.

All came up and lots more.

Now, I’ve been quiet for a few weeks while working on something to really help solve these problems for you.

I DO NOT have ALL the answers - nobody does.

But, I do have some pretty good ideas about what you can do right now to get more customers, get them spending a lot more and coming back a lot more often.

And I’m gonna give you them FREE!

Yep, I’m giving a big chunk of the ranch away.

And this stuff is VALUABLE. I mean elsewhere you’d be charged a LOT.

You need to WATCH THIS VIDEO to see what I’m talking about.

Yes!

If we can just get the BUSINESS PLAN done.

Then we can go to the bank.

Then we can get the money we need.

RUBBISH!

My observation is that traditional business plans are about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

You might as well take a big fat, out of ink marker pen, a bunch of A4 paper, scribble nothing on the paper, staple it together and plop it on your bookshelf.

It’ll be about as much use as that BUSINESS PLAN.

YES, some banks and funders will demand some kind of business plan.

BUT, here’s what they are really interested in.

1.Are you credit worthy?

2.  Do you KNOW how to get enough customers to pay the money back with their profit???

That’s it - no more.

So - forget spending hours on your MISSION STATEMENT, your vision (because that’ll only change) and instead DEMONSTRATE exactly HOW you will get the customers you need to make enough money to pay back the lender, pay you and all your costs…

And remember.

One of the fastest ways to breakthroughs in your business is to look around at what everyone else in your industry is doing… And do the opposite!

And if you need help getting more customers and want to KNOW how to do it.

This morning was a terrible battle.

I was up at 5am and a notification popped up on my laptop that Michael Jackson had passed away.

Tracey was still fast asleep.

She is a legendary Jackson fan.

I felt too sad for her to wake her.

Whatever you think of Michael - yes he was a little odd.

No-one can deny his genius, his talents and his unbelievable ability to achieve.

I’m sure we can ALL learn something from him.

May he rest in peace.

Henry.

I spent this weekend at Tracey’s Mum and Dad’s house in Wiltshire.

A charming little country village.

I was up at 5am each day and Tracey’s dad Bob joined me around 6:30am.

I’d then spend about 2 hours thinking while pretending to listen as he spouted unending gossip, and anger towards various member of the village.

Once that was done he moved straight onto ‘it wasn’t like this in my day’.

‘It’s all a scam’.

‘It’s all a racket’.

‘There’s nothing free’.

‘This world is getting too bloody complicated’.

I actually kinda relish these bizarre and yet strangely enlightening rants from Bob. His generation have a HUGE amount of money waiting to be spent with me so I appreciate a little insight into how he feels.

Most of what he said was of course complete ‘ignorant’ B.S. But some of it did get me thinking.

Particularly when he started going on about Facebook and how annoyed he gets when Sarah and Tracey (Tracey is my fiancee and Sarah is here sister) sit on Facebook giggling away to themselves for hours.

I’m on his side there.

Just looking at Facebook makes me sweat with fear of addiction and endless hours wasted catching up with out-dated old mates who I got rid of in the first place because they in some way detracted from my life.

Social media like Facebook, Twitter. MySpace etc is here.

But is it all it’s cracked up to be?

And there’s always an army of rampant, ‘blinkered’ ’sheep’ hunting after the next fad that gives easy success and a fast buck.

Social media and web 2.0 has created a wonderful flock of these ‘brain washed’, impossible to distinguish, ‘cloned’ wollies. All touting social media as not only the fastest and easiest way to gain new customers but also FREE!

There can be some business benefits from social media.

BUT, in most cases for solo-entrepreneurs, small business there are MUCH better places to spend time.

Here’s the BIGGEST problem.

The idea that you can acquire clients for FREE or little has been around since the beginning of time.

And this is the main attraction with social media.

Trouble is, the FREE customers are usually the worst PLUS, they will NOT be free forever, PLUS, you cannot sidestep competition, PLUS you CANNOT make any rational, sensible decisions on how to GROW your business at any pace you desire.

It’s akin to BRAND ADVERTISING - with a TIME expense rather than a monetary one. EXCEPT, anyone can enter the game and EVERYONE is playing the same field…

Let me give you an example.

Say you want to add an additional 50 customers to your business this month.

Given the law of averages with not much testing you can do that easily as LONG as you can directly attribute your new customers to some kind of action you took.

Say you run an ad in a newspaper or magazine and then follow up with a sales process and create 10 new customers from that one mag. You know the circulation of the mag so all you need to do is test another bunch of mags with a similar readership and a total reader base of over 5 times the initial test.

Simple, predictable and pretty easy WHEN you know how to write good copy (and if you’re using ads with pretty pictures, your log and a slogan FORGET IT - you need help! Grab a free trial to my Inner Circle and get this bit sorted - CLICK HERE).

But with social media like Facebook and Twitter what do you do?

Go looking for 1,000 new friends?

Sit on forums for hours?

Send out a gazillion tweets on Twitter?

There’s simply no clear, measurable correlation between the actions you take and the result.

It’s a little bit like the OLD MLM and pyramid idea. Get 2 people to get 2 to get 2 and you’ll rule the world in a jiffy. Same kinda principle. And I’m afraid FUNDAMENALLY flawed.

On top of that there is NO barrier to entry (anyone can do what you do, see what you do and copy it) and it’s more than a little difficult to create any kind of competitive advantage UNLESS you are either a ‘celebrity’ in your field already (and if not then you need to become one and that means doing different things).

However - I am NOT saying social media is useless. It isn’t. For some applications it is brilliant. And it’s power is undeniable for some things. But for any business owner or entrepreneur SERIOUS about making big leaps in profits then their are MUCH better places to spend your time.

And there’s one more dynamic to consider.

Because so much of this stuff is apparently free (and it isn’t if you place any kind of value on your time) it means there is much less competition in traditional media and many fewer people with the skills to utilise it effectively.

That IS a BIG opportunity…

Food for thought…

Henry.

Do you remember those long lazy days in the school summer holidays?

Get up when you fancy.

Watch endless hours of cartoons.

Build an action man camp or two.

Head round to your friends house and dig through their toys.

Not a care in the world.

And more spare time than we could throw a stick at.

But not now!

Nowadays it seems like every day has been chopped in three and cut down to just 8 hours to eat, sleep, work and play.

There just never seems to be enough time to get everything done.

Here’s a sobering thought…

A 35 year old has approximately 40 years left to achieve what they want to achieve.

Approximately 480 months.

That’s only about 14,400 days.

And only about  230,000 waking hours.

By the time you take out holidays, weekends, time for eating and all the other stuff we have to do you’d be left with something like 50,00o hours.

ONLY 50,000 hours.

That really doesn’t seem like a lot.

If you want to earn just £10 million in those years then every single hour needs to equate to around £200!

But here’s my point.

We don’t have that much time - and any one of us could have a LOT less than we hope.

So - we need to make every single second count.

And not just for business but for all the other things in life.

I’m not a believer in money for the sake of money.

But, I am a beliver in money for the sake of freedom.

Money gives us the opportunity to stop worrying, stop working (if we so wish) and get out into the big wide world and enjoy it.

SO…

We need to make the absolute best use of every single second…

Every single minute has to count.

Here are three ESSENTIAL things to do to make best use of your time.

1. LIMIT access to you. Check email ONCE a day. Do NOT take phone calls unless pre-booked. Do not have meetings unless they cannot be avoided. Do NOT run an open door policy (there’s nothing worse).

2. Choose the BIGGEST rocks. Always be working on the MOST important tasks at hand. The ones which will bring the BIGGEST results. Most stuff you do DOES NOT need to be done. You haven’t got time to do it all.

3. Write down exactly what you’ll be doing tomorrow TONIGHT and then do it tomorrow. ALL OF IT.

Do those three things and you’ll get more done in a day than most get doen in a month.

There are endless more ways to whizz up more time - but commit to these three first.

My dad had no qualifications.

None whatsoever.

He was raised in South London and took pleasure in putting sand in teachers cars through the petrol cap, bouncing cars to different spots in the car park so teachers couldn’t find them, placing cling film across toilet bowls and generally being a ’scallywag’.

With no qualifications he had to scrape, crawl and fight his way to the upper echelons of management in a corporate company over many, many years.

So from a young age he distilled into myself and four brothers just how important education is.

How you must have qualifications to succeed in anything.

I 100% agree with him about the education bit (although not the useless ‘dribble’ that’s taught at school) but completely disagree with the qualification bit. I did very well at school, college and university but if I had that time back I’d would not be there…

How many qualifications you have just isn’t important anymore.

It DID use to  be.

But not anymore.

We are now living in a ‘celebrity’ driven society.

No longer does the business owner with the most qualifications, best trained staff win…

Instead the one who is deemed a ‘celebrity’ wins.

Think about the ‘handymen’ on programmes like ‘DIY SOS’ - they’re no better than any other carpenter.

Think about the ‘celebrity chefs’ - are they any better than the others?

Think about Susan Boyle! Yes, she is a fantastic singer - BUT, is she any better than her peers?

The answer is of course NO.

And it doesn’t just apply to big celebs.

It’s 100% true for local, regional and national people and business too.

Any person, any business that gets media coverage is instantly whizzed to a place of credibility, celebrity and success.

There can be NO denying it.

So how do you get this ‘celebrity’ status in your niche, your market for your business??

We’ll talk more about that next time.

Dedicated to your success,

Henry.

BREAKING NEWS!!!

Do you use Facebook?

If so, you MUST read this.

Last night Facebook made a big release - one of the biggest virtual land grabs ever - the rush to claim your own name on Facebook.com.

And you NEED to be part of it.

Right now if you want to send someone to your fFacebook profile, you have to figure out a URL that looks something like this:

www.facebook.com/people/Your-Name/1234567
(That’s an inactive URL so don’t click it.)

But wouldn’t you rather own www.facebook.com/yourname?

And this becomes even MORE important for Facebook Fan Pages (not your regular friend profiles, the pages you can set up to promote your business.) Can you imagine how devastating it would be to have someone else own your company name in Facebook?

In the past, it was easy to own your own name on Facebook, all you had to do was to spend a large amount with Facebook or be a huge celebrity, and it was yours.

But starting LAST night you can claim your name as a facebook URL. Plus, you can claim names for your business pages too.

But here’s the catch - it’s first come, first serve. Imagine a couple of hundred MILLION people all try to grab their name at the same time, and there will be some interesting server shenanigans occuring.

Here’s what to do.

Login to Facebook NOW then go to www.facebook.com/username

You will see a form that will give you several suggested usernames, and the ability to choose your own. Either choose one of the names suggested or type in your own.

Repeat this process for any Facebook Fan Pages you administer, though there are three catches: first, your page must have over 1000 fans prior to May 31st 2009, you can’t claim something generic like travel or insurance, and you can’t claim someone else’s trademark.

In fact, if you have a registered trademark, I suggest you go to
http://www.facebook.com/help/contact.php?show_form=username_rights
right now to prevent others from grabbing your name.

If someone else has already has your name, get creative - add a period, or a dash, shorten it, lengthen it, or slap a number in there somewhere.

That’s the drill. I suggest you do it now - even if you don’t use Facebook much or at all. Grab your names while you can. You WILL want them in the future.

Dedicated to your success,

Henry.

PS: MAKE SURE YOU POST THIS TO YOUR TWITTER ACCOUNT USING THE TWEET THIS BUTTON BELOW. Your friends, family, subscribers and customers will be a little bit upset if they miss out on grabbing their own Facebook URL!!
